THE organisers behind Ealing Half Marathon have made a plea to the public for help to make sure Ealing's Olympic legacy following London 2012 isn't lost.

Ealing Half Marathon founder, Kelvin Walker, said: "Our event is one of the largest London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic legacy events and we're at risk from the impacts of COVID-19, unless more entries are received very soon.

"Enter today, encourage a friend to enter, gift a place, or simply buy some of our fantastic merchandise.

"The income boost from the community support will hopefully enable us to host this year's event and plan for Ealing Half Marathon 2022.

"The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games was built on a foundation of legacy.

"We were inspired by London 2012 and motivated to create a lasting legacy of the Games with an event that the people of Ealing could be proud of."

The first ever Ealing Half Marathon took place in 2012, shortly after the conclusion of the Olympics and since then the event has kept growing, attracting 5,000 participants each year, winning national awards and raising thousands of pounds for charity.

This year's half marathon is planned for September 26, with costs at £48 (affiliated) and £50 (unaffiliated).

Refunds will be offered if the race doesn't go ahead because of coronavirus restrictions.
