A person has been killed after being struck by a train near to East Acton station early this morning, causing delays on the Central Line throughout the day.

At around 6am this morning a person was struck by a Central Line train at East Acton station on the westbound platform and was killed.

This caused the Central Line to be closed between Queensway and Ealing Broadway/ West Ruislip throughout the morning, as well as delays to the rest of the line.

The British Transport Police said in a statement: "BTP officers were called to the Westbound platform of the Central line at East Acton Underground Station, London on Tuesday the 3rd January 2023 after a report that a person had been struck by a train.

"Officers from the BTP and emergency services attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 5.56am and is currently being treated as non-suspicious."

"Medics from the London Ambulance Service also attended but the person was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"Officers are currently working to establish the identity of the person, and inform their next of kin. A file will be prepared for the coroner."

British Transport Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.
