The Reduce & Recycle Hub (the Hub) is returning to Acton market with a competition and a host of activities to mark Plastic Free July on Saturday.

Plastic Free July is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to the plastic problem and enable cleaner streets, oceans, and beautiful communities.

On its website, the Hub said: "We want to encourage as many of you as possible to make a change when it comes to using single use plastic."

The Hub encourages people to bring plastic items to swap for plastic free ones at the market.

Everyone participating in the competition is required to post a picture of themselves and their swaps on social media and tag the organisation. All entrant names will then be entered into the raffle and a winner will be picked at random on 31 July.

Zahra Shah of Action West London said: "The Acton Market Reduce and Recycle hub continues to go from strength to strength each month by bringing new recycling and reducing activities to people in Acton."

In addition to the competition, the Hub is offering a bike sale and servicing corner with a range of bikes for children and adults to choose from.

The stall will also be offering free tyre and chain checks and low-cost bike servicing where you would be charged for the parts used.

Other stalls include book and seed swaps, clothes repair workshop, donation depot and a short seminar bearing tips and advice on recycling from a member of ActforEaling and Ealing Council Waste Team.

There will also be a variety of options to tickle the taste buds with food stalls featuring Ghanaian, Indian and Lebanese cuisine.

According to its website, to date the monthly market has saved 599kg of unwanted clothes and shoes from ending up in landfill which is equivalent to reducing carbon emissions by 8.40 tonnes and helped recycle 163 kgs of small electrical items.
