Nominations have opened for the second annual Young Ealing Foundation Awards (YEF Awards), celebrating the achievements of young people and organisations in the borough.

There are 14 awards across two categories for young people and organisations that support them and nominations will be open until Sunday 2nd April ahead of the ceremony on Thursday 6th July.

The first edition of the YEF Awards were held last year and saw 200 people attend the event, which were hosted by Lily Connelly-Woods and BBC Radio 1Xtra presenter Fee Mak.

In a statement on their website, the awards were described as: "All of the children and young people in Ealing are amazing in their own way!

"These awards recognise individual children and young people who have particularly stood out because of their achievements, whether it has been overcoming personal adversity, or using their voice and experience to support, inspire and empower others.

"The focus for these awards is on children and young people's individual journeys, and how they have had an impact on others, whether friends, family, peers of professionals working with them.

"These awards can be for individuals or small groups and recognise leadership skills.

"They can also be projects targeting specific groups, or services available to any children and young people.

"Nominees will show how they have gone above and beyond to engage, empower and positively impact the lives of children and young people who participate in these projects and services."

The awards are hosted by the Young Ealing Foundation, a charity established in 2017 looking to create a brighter for young people in the borough by connecting youth charities, supporters, and decision makers.

The categories for young people are: mental health champion, young activist, young creative, young sports leader, young entrepreneur, young volunteer, and overcoming adversity.

The categories for providers are: employability project, mental wellbeing project, physical wellbeing project, creative project, education project, disability project, and youth professional.
