Motorcyclist has leg amputated after collision in Ealing

The Metropolitan Police are appealing for information about a collision in Ealing which led to a motorcyclist losing a leg. 

On Sunday 21st May at around 7.10pm at the junction of Gunnersbury Lane and Lillian Avenue a car and a motorcycle were involved in a collision. 

The rider of the motorcycle was a 45-year-old man, and he was found with serious injuries and taken to hospital, where his left leg had to be amputated below the knee. 

The car was a silver Mercedes Benz, and it did not stop at the scene, before being found a short distance away after the driver had run off into an alleyway between two houses on Lillian Avenue and enquiries are ongoing to locate the driver. 

A statement on the Metropolitan Police website said: "Detectives from the Met's Serious Collision Unit investigate and are asking anyone witnessed the incident or has any information to contact police. 

"In particular, officers are asking for anyone with dash-cam footage, who was in the area near the time and date of the collision to the contact them. 

"Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 or contact via Twitter @MetCC. Please quote CAD 5843/21MAY 

"To give information anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org."
