Meet Ealing's new child friendly cafe where parents can enjoy food and drink while their children play

EALING now has its very own children's centre where parents can sit down, chat to each other and have something to eat, while their children play.

Yu-Yi Hu is the proud owner of A Little Me Time, located at 58 The Mall in Ealing.

Hu moved to Ealing along with her family three years ago and found it difficult to form a support network as her extended family was still in Taiwan.

She told Nub News: "I would go to children's centres and my kids would always have a great time, but there wasn't anywhere for parents to sit and chat about issues we may have been facing, so I didn't really have that support network from other parents.

"In Asia it's quite common to have child centres cafes, where parents could sit down and have a bite to eat while their children play and a child-minder watches over them.

"Here in the UK it's different, when you go to play centres, each parent is responsible for looking after their own child."

That's when the mum-of-two came up with the idea of creating a hybrid between the Asian and British version of children centres and in June, A Little Me Time was opened.

"I wanted to give parents the opportunity to sit and interact with other parents and support each other with tips, while grabbing a bite to eat, but at the same time watching over their own kids.

"Raising children is tiring, it's important parents have a little bit of time for themselves too and be able to talk to others who are in the same situation as them," she added.

The café offers coffee and bubble tea, but also a selection of Taiwanese food dishes that have become quite popular with customers.

With Ealing going into Tier 3 from tomorrow however, parents won't be able to sit down when they bring their children for classes, but takeaway will still be available and can also be found on Deliveroo.

In order to combat the economic impact felt by the second lockdown and from tomorrow Tier 3, Hu is trying to rent out the basement area of her cafe.

She said: "The basement is where we want to host birthday parties and big events, but unfortunately due to the second lockdown and from tomorrow Tier 3, we can't use it for its intended purpose and are now offering to rent it out."
