A MAN has been rescued from a flat fire in Acton.

Part of a studio flat on the first floor of a block of flats on Beardsley Way was damaged by fire.

The fire brigade was called just after 1am on May 14 and the fire was under control just before 2am.

Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters attended the scene, along with an ambulance service which treated the man pulled from the inferno.

The brigade's fire investigators believe the blaze was caused by the unsafe disposal of smoking materials.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "We'd rather you didn't smoke at all, but if you are a smoker, it's absolutely vital you ensure your cigarette is completely out when you've finished smoking it.

"If you don't, you risk causing a fire which could not only destroy your home, but also cost you your life."
