A MAN has been convicted of assaulting two police officers in Southall and has received a suspended sentence.

Romadan Adem, 29, of Willesden, pled guilty at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on April 19 to assaulting two emergency workers.

On September 19 2019, officers responded to a fight in a fast-food restaurant on South Road in Southall.

Two officers arrived on the scene and they found upturned chairs, damaged furniture and an intoxicated Adem.

PC Ashta initially arrested Adem for drunk and disorderly due to his behaviour, but he turned violent and bit the officer on the forearm.

Four officers were required to restrain him and as he was being placed in the back of a police van, he kicked out at PC Fisher-Norten, striking her in the chest.

Adem was charged with assaulting both officers and proceeded to plead guilty.

He was sentenced to 20 weeks' imprisonment, suspended for 18 months and handed a total of £257 in costs and fines.
