RECENT survey results showed that London North West University Healthcare (LNWH) Ealing hospitals and Northwick Park experienced improvements in their A&E department.

More than 1,000 people completed the Picker Institute CQC 2020 Urgent and Emergency Care Survey, which asked a range of questions about their A&E experience.

Participants completed 65 questions ranging from staff friendliness to explaining what medications they were being given and why.

Scores included, staff helping patients manage pain (93%), clear instruction about the potential side effects of medication (68%), cleanliness (79%) and being told how long they would have to wait for treatment (58%).

Their most improved scores included respecting patient privacy (97%), waiting under an hour in the ambulance before A&E admission (96%) and being told about symptoms to look out for (78%).

All scores were above the average reported at other hospital trusts, with LNWH placed in the top 25 out of 122 hospitals in the UK.

Northwick Park, in Harrow, is the busiest emergency department in London.

LNWH Ealing Hospital is situated on the Uxbridge Road, Southall and Central Middlesex Hospital is on Acton Lane, Park Royal.
