Protesters from Insulate Britain blocked traffic near Gypsy Corner on the A40 in North Acton this morning.

The Metropolitan Police said 17 activists were arrested at the scene, six of whom locked themselves to the ground, with specialist units on scene to unglue them.

Insulate Britain also blocked a roundabout near the Dartmouth Crossing, in the latest action by the group who blocked Hanger Lane in Ealing earlier this month.

Ink was also thrown on protestors this morning as they were sitting on the road.

One protester, with the dye-like substance on his face, told Greatest Hits Radio London: "It's sad that we have to do this, I hate doing it.

"I'm a retired doctor and I've spent my life trying to help people and I'm reduced to having to do this."

AA traffic reported road blocked and queueing traffic due to the demonstration on the A40 Western Avenue out of town at A4000 Wales Farm Road (Gypsy Corner) this morning (Wednesday 27, October).

There was also congestion to White City and on the other side back to Park Royal station due to onlookers, with traffic struggling along Horn Lane.

Further traffic queues on the A406 North Circular were recorded both ways near Ealing Common.

Insulate Britain are demanding that the government "gets on with the job of insulating Britain's homes, starting with the homes of the poorest people in the country".

They have said their actions will continue until the government "makes a meaningful statement indicating that they will insulate all of Britain's 29 million homes by 2030", apparently 'among the oldest and leakiest in Europe'.
