Seven projects in Greater London have been given a combined £367,9222 in funding in the last year as part of the HS2 community fund.

With the high-speed railway line terminating in Old Oak Common, projects in Greater London have benefitted from greater funding, which included the Acton Play Projects and Leisure Events receiving £10,000 in April.

The latest charity to benefit from this funding has been Samuel Lithgow Youth Centre in Camden, receiving £45,000 which has been spent on the Women's Fitness Project, delivering four fitness sections per week including Zumba, body conditioning, yoga, and dance, funding the project for the next four years.

Cathy Elliott, Independent Chair of the HS2 Funds said: "It's fantastic to be able to report that HS2's funding programme for line of route communities has awarded £13.4 million since 2017, with over £2 million distributed in the last year to locally-led projects between London and Crewe.

"I have been lucky enough to visit several projects and see the impact of the funding first-hand, such as the opening of brand new playgrounds and thriving environmental regeneration initiatives.

"It's clear to see the significant difference the funding makes and how important it is to local communities."

In total across the HS2 route from Crewe to London, £13,445,843 has been donated to 236 different projects as part of Phase One and Phase Two A in the last six years, £2,023,171 of which has been given out this year.

The funding from HS2's community fund are independently selected and administered by the charity Groundwork UK.
