A parent claims their seven-year-old boy was being religiously converted by classmates at Springwell School in Hounslow, west London.

The Hindu father, who is anonymous to not risk the chance of their underage child being identified, was left "shocked" after hearing three Muslim children were trying to convert their son to Islam.

Allegedly the classmates "brainwashed" the Hindu boy into agreeing to change his name to Mohammed and cutting his kalava (a Hindu bracelet) using scissors.

The Muslim classmates also allegedly told the Hindu boy that "meat makes you strong" and halal meat "makes you stronger," despite him being a vegetarian.

According to the parent the incidents have since been resolved by the school, leading to the suspension of the classmates and their parents being informed.

However, the Hindu parent is concerned on how and why his son's classmates attempted to convert his child.

"I love any religion. It's not the problem," the concerned parent says. "But what I am worried about is that those kids who have been taught like this by their parents or someone."

The Hounslow parent explains that he would not have known of all these incidents were occurring if it was not for his son coming home one day with a change in behaviour.

After learning about his son's situation, the parent informs the class teacher who explained that 'it is just kids exploring things'.

After a number of incidents, the school had to suspend the classmates but the experience left the father worried (credit: Nub News).

The father says: "I thought ok that is fine but then after that meeting, I went to work and in the afternoon I got a phone call from my son's mummy and she said to me that our son wants to change his name to Muhammad.

"I am like where is this coming from and I was really shocked actually to hear that."

He adds: "We never talk about any other religion at home, not even our own religion.

"We just keep it to us adults, especially with kids."

After learning about the classmates threatening to stop being friends with the Hindu boy if he does not change his name, the teacher then suspended the three students.

Worried it could be happening in other schools, the parent spoke to other families and neighbours about his situation.

The Indian father continues: "In this day and age, we all have freedom of expression but then you know people they use the kids, I mean, if that is the case in this in this scenario then it's really sad."

The Dad showed Ealing Nub News email messages between him and Springwell's Headteacher, Mrs Kamaljeet Grewal acknowledging the situation.

In one email, she told the father: "The school is actively working to create a safe and inclusive environment.

"We have policies in place to prevent grooming, indoctrination, and pressurisation related to faith or ideological beliefs.

"Our staff are trained to identify and address such issues promptly."

Springwell School was approached by Ealing Nub News who refused to comment.
