Grange School is closed today while forensic officers investigate the fatal stabbing of a woman in the alleyway adjacent to the school.
A 21-year-old woman was found in Robert's Alley off Church Gardens, South Ealing, this morning (Tuesday, May 17).
Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance but despite the best efforts of paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man, 20, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody at a West London police station.
Police are in the process of informing her next of kin and forensic officers are at the scene, a two-minute walk away from South Ealing Tube Station.
A police cordon in place encompasses Ascott allotments, Grange School, Grange Nursery and Grange Pre-School, which has gates lining the side of Robert's Alley.
The South Ealing school announced on its website that it would be closed to pupils for the day, writing: "Urgent - school is closed today due to a serious incident."
Jon Ball, the Liberal Democrat Councillor for Ealing Common ward, confirmed the school would remain shut today (May 17) while police investigate.
The local councillor wrote on social media: "Very sad this morning to hear about the murder that took place last night in Robert's Alley, South Ealing.
"Such a tragedy. Grange School, Grange Nursery and Grange Pre-School are within the police cordon so are closed today."
