EALING Council is set to launch its updated Biodiversity Action Plan later this year and will be offering free wildlife related activities for families throughout August.

Families are invited this Saturday, June 5, to enjoy a free taster session at Walpole Park between 10am-3pm.

Families will get the chance to do some pond dipping, discover the secret world of the wormery (slow worms) and create wildflower seed bombs.

Sean McCormack, founder of Ealing Wildlife Group will open the event and told Ealing Nub News: "I'm really delighted that Ealing Council is launching its updated Biodiversity Action Plan this year which will be vital in encouraging residents, developers and the Council themselves to consider the impact we all can have on our local nature and wildlife.

"I've helped to write the species action plans which focus on iconic animals and plants we are lucky to have in Ealing including Peregrine Falcons, Skylarks, Bats, Stag Beetles, Great Crested Newts and one of Britain's rarest trees, the Native Black Poplar.

"As part of the pre-launch programme of activities there's a fantastic line-up of events happening in Walpole Park allowing people to discover what wildlife is on our doorstep.

"And why biodiversity, the amazing, interconnected web of life around us, is so important.

"I hope to see you all there on June 5."
