AN Ealing brow specialist has opened her very own brow bar.

Lana Thomson, who lives in Northfields, has this week managed to open her first brow bar – Brow Base London, located at 24 Northfield Avenue.

Lana started training as a make-up artist when she left university and then expanded into doing eyebrows as well.

She worked at a hairdresser in Ealing Broadway until 2017, which is when she decided to become self-employed and rented out rooms in different salons around Ealing in order to build up a client base.

Lana, who has lived in the area for more than 20 years, eventually managed to build a big enough client base and save enough money to open her very own brow bar.

In October she put an offer in on the shop on Northfield Avenue, which was accepted, and everything was finalised and completed last month.

She told Nub News: "Lockdown actually worked in my favour, as beauty salons weren't allowed to open, so I didn't miss out on any business while the deal was being finalised.

"People are so desperate for a makeover after nearly four months, it's great, I've got so many bookings already, it's all lined up really well."

During the past month, the mum-of-three has been working alongside her boyfriend on the renovation of her new shop and getting everything set up for this week, when beauticians were allowed to reopen, as per the Government's roadmap out of lockdown.

"My boyfriend has basically been the project manager and has been working morning until night every day to get it sorted in time to open – he is honestly the best and I feel very lucky," Lana added.

The new business owner however is not resting on her laurels, as she is also completing a teaching course and will be training her teenage sister to do eyebrows in order to work at the brow bar once she finishes school.

Brow Base London is open five days a week Tuesdays to Saturdays – from 10am-5pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and 10am-6:30pm on Thursdays and Saturdays.
