Experts from Swansway Motor Group reviewed this data by area and discovered that Ealing's 180 chargers per 100,000 people ranks well ahead of the figure for the whole of the UK which is 89 chargers per 100,000.

Harrow is the worst performing town in Outer London with just 23 chargers per 100,000 people, while Richmond was best performing with 460 chargers per 100,000.

A spokesperson for Swansway said: "It's great to see Ealing putting into place the chargers to make the transition to electric transport seamless.

"This is how to encourage people to make the switch to electric cars."

Following these statistics, Swansway are calling on the rest of the UK to follow Ealing's example: "These recent statistics reflect how EV infrastructure must develop across the country as we transition into more sustainable transport."

Adding: "Manufacturers are producing cars with ever increasing ranges but if the infrastructure is not growing at the same rate, then drivers will be put off making the switch to electric vehicles.

"Greater Manchester having 14x less chargers per 100,000 than London sums up the issue."

Outer London locations ranked lowest to highest for electric chargers per 100,000 people:
