Ealing woman sets up new home storage accessories business

By Dimitris Kouimtsidis 26th Aug 2021

A WOMAN from Ealing has set up a new home storage accessories business in her spare room.

Laura Swales, 32, is the proud owner of The Storage Store , where she sells customised, eco-friendly glass storage jars and other storage accessories from her house in South Ealing.

Swales told Nub News: "I really enjoy organising my house and I decided to turn that passion into a business."

The 32-year-old used to work in medical communications, but was on maternity leave for a year following the birth of her second child.

That's when she decided to make a career change, take a leap of faith and launch her own business.

The Storage Store officially launched at the end of October, but is gaining serious traction now in the run up to Christmas.

"I offer a variety of styles of jars, suited for different areas of the house, such as the pantry, the bathroom or even for pet food and treats.

"I thought about, what would appeal to me as a customer, I want to make my house look tidy, organised and pretty, but I also want my products to help me be more eco-friendly and reduce my plastic waste," added Swales.

The mum of two believes her products work brilliantly for both those who own their own homes and want to add some finishing touches, but also for those who rent and want to make it more homely, but can't do something as drastic as paint the walls.

Swales says she's very lucky that her husband is so supportive during her career change.

"He's been great, we're lucky that he still works full-time from home, but with The Storage Store we now have more flexibility regarding childcare, with nursery finishing at 3pm, I can go and pick up the kids and spend more time with them compared to what I would have been able to if I still had my old job."

Jar prices range from as little as £5.99 for the smallest items, to £19.99 for the larger ones.
