EALING has seen a decrease in the number of new coronavirus cases for the first time since May.

Specifically, there was a decrease of over 14% of new cases in the latest COVID-19 figures that were released.

In the week of July 19 to 25, Ealing saw 1,177 new positive cases, compared to 1,370 the week before.

That figure represents a decrease of 14.1%, with 193 fewer new cases.

That means there was also a decrease in the number of new cases per 100,000 residents, with 344.3, compared to 400.8 the week before.

Those figures are lower than the average across England, but higher than those across London.

London as a whole had 29,426 new cases during the week of July 19 to 25, which represents 328.3 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

England saw 197,770 new cases during the same week, correlating to 351.4 cases per 100,000 people.
