Ealing has been rated as one of the best places in the UK to hideout from a zombie apocalypse, according to a study by Rentola.co.uk.

Rentola analysed data from the Office of National Statistics for 306 towns across the UK and scored each town across six categories: vulnerability, hideouts, supplies, hazards, safety, and mobility - and these were used to calculate a total score.

Ealing was ranked as the 25th best town or city on the list, putting it in the top 10%, with an overall index score of 5.65 (for reference the top scoring town was Uttlesford with 6.35 and Craven came last with 3.44).

Rentola said of the list: "The recent years have seen a multitude of problems afflicting the world, including the Covid-19 pandemic, wars, and changes in the social and economic structures that continue to shape the cultural, social and economic landscape globally.

"However, the situation could potentially worsen. What if a new epidemic arises that turns people into zombies, or a war breaks out between the living and the dead?

"To determine the safest city in the UK in case of a hypothetical zombie apocalypse, we analyzed various factors across six categories: Vulnerability, Hideouts, Supplies, Safety, Mobility and Hazards. Based on our findings, we have identified the safest city in the UK.

"Therefore, if you do not reside in the safest city, it may be wise to consider relocation in the event of a global zombie outbreak."

Ealing's best asset in the case Shaun of the Dead scenario was pollution, scoring 8.14, meaning that it had a relatively high air quality so becoming self-sufficient there would not be a hindrance.

The thing most likely to stop you getting to the sequel in a zombie apocalypse in Ealing is supplies, scoring 3.32, meaning that the water supply, waste management, accommodation, food services, median energy efficiency, and distance to pharmacies rated poorly.
