POLICE are appealing for dashcam footage and witnesses as they attempt to identify the driver of a car involved in a fatal collision in Northfields.

Officers were called to the scene on Northfield Avenue at around 8:50pm on June 21, to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

A 66-year-old man was taken to hospital by paramedics, where he died a few days later on June 25.

It was reported that the victim was standing behind a parked car when it began reversing.

The car subsequently collided with the pedestrian and knocked him to the ground.

The car did not stop, although it is unclear whether the driver had become aware of the collision.

Detective Sergeant Rebecca Collens, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We are attempting to trace the driver of a white Toyota Prius who could have vital information about the circumstances of the collision.

"I would also like to hear from anybody who was in the area at around the time of the collision to contact us as a matter of urgency."

Anyone with any information or dashcam footage is asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 82469 820, or call 101 and quote the reference number CAD 7101/21JUN.
