A new 13-storey hotel, live music venue and café are to be built in West London.
The 378-room hotel building, which will have the other facilities on the ground floor, will replace the 'mostly empty' KT Summit House in Hanger Hill, Ealing.
The Ealing Council Planning Committee voted overwhelmingly in favour of the development at 100 Hanger Lane on Wednesday (February 5). The site will provide new workspaces, a music and live show venue and café. It will also be a car-free development.
There were 22 objections from the local community, mostly concerned with height, traffic, and pollution. One resident told the committee that she agreed the current site is unattractive, however the proposed height goes against Ealing Council's Local Plan, therefore to approve it would be 'ignominious'.

Cllr Jonathan Oxley also voiced opposition to the plans. On behalf of himself and other ward councillor Athena Zissimos he said: "We oppose this development. It's big, architecturally without merit… and will go against the local plan voted on by council.
"Unelected officers are seeking to circumvent the local plan by referring to the London Plan. I appeal to you to respect our local plan. Elected councillors make decisions, not officers."
Vice Chair Cllr Dee Martin reminded Cllr Oxley that the committee he was speaking at was made up of elected members who were making a decision, not planning officers.
The Development Manager, James Penfold, said: "The project will be a lifestyle hotel for creatives focused on the business and leisure markets. It will form a destination for the neighbourhood, and as long term owners, our interests are aligned with local people."

Councillor Miriam Rice told members that she is excited by the cultural offer of the plans. She said: "I live across the road from where there used to be the Starlight Ballroom, and I keep hearing stories from when David Bowie was there, and how people like Stevie Wonder have been there. I really do like the idea that we'll have a new little underground venue there, where maybe some great big stars of the future can come to be."
The hotel will be built in an area that already has hotels such as a Premier Inn and a Crowne Plaza Hotel all within a five-minute walk. Developers will pay over £925,000 into local projects such as highway works, transport infrastructure and carbon offsetting.
