Ealing born-and-bred musician Mari Dangerfield is releasing her debut album this month, delving into personal struggles and being human in the age of technology.

The alternative/electronic pop artist went to Ealing Junior Music School, where she established her passion for music, before performing in open-mic nights at The Castle Inn, Ealing.

After growing her YouTube channel with her stylophone-infused covers over the last five years, and several singles spanning 2018-2021, Mari will drop her debut album on 12 November.

Lyrically, the album covers personal struggles, particularly mental ones, and being human in the age of technology.

"This album is so much more than just a collection of songs to me" Mari, 26, said. "It's a sort of record of the first few years of my career, and an even longer period of my life: It reveals so much about me, personally and professionally.

"If you really listen to these songs, you can get to know me on quite a deep level.

"There's a lot of my reality embedded within the concept and the stories. I would have been lost without making music. It saved my mental wellbeing."

Inspired by the borough's rich musical history, Mari's influences include The Who, with Pete Townsend growing up and going to college in Ealing, and David Bowie, who performed at Acton Town Hall in 1964.

Coining her sound 'Quirkpop of the mind, body and laptop', Mari is part alternative, part pop, part electronic, part musical theatre, with a sprinkling of classical and consistently strong instrumental and vocal melodies.

Her initial instrument of choice was the Stylophone, employed to full effect on debut single, 'Virtually', and, being her USP, has made regular appearances since.

'Love and other machines' is released on 12 November, and can be pre-ordered now.
