EALING North MP, James Murray, has launched a petition to save The Black Horse pub in Greenford.

The Labour MP is worried that the pub by the Grand Union Canal might be sold off by Fuller's for redevelopment.

He took to Twitter to explain why he launched the petition: "The Black Horse is a fantastic pub in Greenford, but rumours are going round about its future.

"I wrote to the owners, Fuller's, and I was worried by their reply.

"I want them to know how strongly we feel about keeping this pub open."

When we approached Fuller's for a comment however, they said they were 'surprised to hear about the petition' and that they don't have any plans to close it.

A spokesperson for Fuller Smith & Turner said: "We are surprised to hear about the petition.

"As a long-standing owner and operator of pubs we only rarely sell sites, our preference is to invest and grow our share from competitors.

"Inevitably we do review our estate on a regular basis, but if we can see a strong future, particularly around strong local community engagement, we like to invest for the long term.

"Having been closed for so long, it's been good to reopen The Black Horse and we have no plans to close it."
