AN Ealing man has been convicted of robbing a teenager in Chiswick.

Hasti Haki, 18, of Horn Lane, Acton was convicted on January 8 after pleading guilty at Ealing Magistrates Court to robbery.

He was sentenced on February 2 at Ealing Magistrates Court, where he was given a 12-month conditional discharge.

The court heard that on October 2 2019, at 5:10pm, police were called to Elliott Road in Chiswick, to reports of a robbery.

Officers attended the scene and found a boy in his teens who told them that he had been approached by a group of males while he was walking home from school.

The boy was threatened by Haki, who searched the victim's bag, pulled out his wallet and stole £10.

The victim reported the incident straight away and was able to provide an excellent description of the suspect's clothing.

Officers detained Haki, whose clothing matched the description given by the victim.

He was taken to a police station, where he was subsequently charged and convicted.

DC Emma Richards, the investigating officer from West Area Command Unit said: "This was a joint effort between our Emergency Response Teams and CID in identifying the suspect, gathering evidence and putting the case to the CPS.

"There was overwhelming evidence because of this and ultimately a successful conviction was achieved."
