Residents should expect some changes to the way their bins are collected in the coming weeks.

Across the festive period, bins will be collected on different dates to those we are used to throughout the year.

These changes allow for councils to work around the festive bank holidays whilst allowing employees some well earned rest over the holiday.

Ealing Council have announced the following changes to the usual schedule:

  • Bin collections on Monday, December 23, and Tuesday, December 24, will remain the same
  • Bin collections on Wednesday, December 25, will instead be collected on Friday, December 27
  • Bin collections on Thursday, December 26, will instead be collected on Saturday, December 28
  • Bin collections on Friday, December 27, will instead be collected on Monday, December 30
  • Bin collections on Monday, December 30, will instead be collected on Tuesday, December 31
  • Bin collections on Tuesday, December 31, will instead be collected on Thursday, January 2
  • Bin collections on Wednesday, January 1, will instead be collected on Friday, January 3
  • Bin collections on Thursday, January 2, will instead be collected on Saturday, January 4
  • Bin collections on Friday, January 3, will instead be collected on Monday, January 6
  • Bin collections on Monday, January 6, will instead be collected on Tuesday, January 7
  • Bin collections on Tuesday, January 7, will instead be collected on Wednesday, January 8
  • Bin collections on Wednesday, January 8, will instead be collected on Thursday, January 9
  • Bin collections on Thursday, January 9, will instead be collected on Friday, January 10
  • Bin collections on Friday, January 10, will instead be collected on Saturday, January 11
  • Normal collection schedule resumes on Monday, January 13

Between Monday, January 6 and Friday January, 24, those who use the black and blue wheeled bins can leave their real Christmas trees on the front edge of their property for collection.

Trees will be collected on the same day as your revised rubbish collection (black bin) each alternate week.

Tree trunks must not exceed 20cm in diameter, or be more than six feet tall (taller trees can be cut in two). Residents are asked to ensure all decorations are removed.

If you live in a flat or use a communal bin service you will have to take your real tree to one of the councils parks or open spaces. This runs until Friday 24 January 2025.
