A crowdfunding page run by the Ealing Film Festival has reached almost two thirds of its target to fund the festival this year.

A total of £2,737 has been raised so far by the film group, in order to deliver free public film screenings in the borough.

The Festival hopes to raise £4000 by 13 September, leaving two weeks to raise the remaining 32%.

Half of the funding has come from Ealing Council who pledged £2,040 a week ago.

The 2021 Ealing Film Festival is hoping to hold a live events by the end of this year.

Money is needed to cover the costs of the screens, projector and sound system as well as venue hire and the provision of face masks and sanitizer.

More than 200 films have already been submitted for this year's festival, with plans to showcase a range of new short films (15 minutes or less), produced from 2018 - 2021.

A key part of their plan is also to enable people to make their own films, by providing free workshops and training sessions for budding filmmakers and a platform to showcase their films.

Earlier this month over 200 people attended their first event, showing winners from their 2020 film competition.
