An Ealing dry cleaning business completed a challenge to fill their whole shop with food donations for a local charity.

The Salisbury Dry Cleaners on Pitshanger Lane managed to fill a van full of donations from customers and Ealing residents for the Ealing Foodbank.

Established in 1970, the family run business decided to launch the challenge in the run up to the festive Pitshanger Light up the Lane event, which took place on Sunday (28 November).

Tony's daughter Megan Moran, who helped with the challenge, said they were really pleased with its success and amazing customer donations. "My dad has owned Salisbury Dry Cleaners for 50 years now," Megan told Nub News. "After the lockdowns he has kept a food donations box for Ealing FoodBank in the shop and brings the donations to the food bank.  "We decided for Light up the Lane it would be a fun idea to try and fill the whole shop with food donations which will hopefully help as many people as we can." They also had a collection bucket on the day of the event and managed to collect £110 for the Foodbank. "We are really pleased with the success and hope it can help those who need it," Megan said. "And Light up the Lane was great fun as always." Their long-standing team have a combined time working at the store of over 110 years. Staff member Lal has been there 16 years, Jo 25 years, owner Tony for 50 and Christine for 19 years. The store offers a free 24 hour drop off and collection machine as well as free collection and delivery. Ealing Foodbank provides emergency food to people living in the Borough of Ealing. In November, they served their 100,000th client since opening eight years ago. Find the Salisbury Dry Cleaners at 153 Pitshanger Lane, Ealing W5 1RH. They are open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5:30pm.
