Ealing Council will be moving forward with plans to make 2 of its 9 Low-Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs) permanent despite opposition to the schemes from people living near them.

The Council is set to progress with the Adrienne Avenue LTN and the Deans Road and Montague Avenue LTN schemes, it revealed in a post on its website yesterday (16 August).

They are doing this because more of the residents of these roads agree with the LTN than don't, according to the Council's consultation.

This survey found that 70% of Adrienne Avenue residents who responded to the consultation, support their LTN, and 61% of people living on Deans / Montague did too.

The Council said in a press release: "Ealing Council is reiterating its commitment to supporting active travel schemes, including LTNs wherever they are supported by residents.

"The council will now work towards installing the trial LTN at Adrienne Avenue and the proposed LTN at Deans Road and Montague Avenue as permanent schemes."

But according to a Council consultation the majority of people living near the schemes object to them.

93% of residents on the border of Deans/Montague who responded to the survey are opposed to their local LTN, and 80% of those living near Adrienne Avenue are not happy with the scheme.

In addition, 88% and 84% of other residents responding to the Council's survey on these LTNs said they oppose them.

This is in line with other results from the survey as we reported earlier today.

Ealing Council said that a final decision on these schemes is likely to be taken at the council's Cabinet meeting in September.

This will be "once full data has been gathered, to meet new Government requirements which were only introduced at the end of July 2021."
