Ealing Council install 25 bike hangars across the borough
Ealing Council have unveiled 25 new bike hangars as their £10 million investment into making cycling easier in the borough continues.
This latest round of bike hangars fulfils the council's commitment to installing 25 bike hangers in the spring, with 50 to be put around the borough before the end of the year.
The council ran a consultation back in December where residents could request specific locations for the hangars to go that would be most convenient for them.
Councillor Peter Mason, Leader of Ealing Council said: "We have installed 25 new bike hangars across the borough, providing safe and affordable storage for your bike.
"Helping more people to take up active travel is a really important part of our commitment to tackling air pollution and the climate crisis.
"We will continue to work with our community to help more people walk, cycle and scoot, so we can all enjoy cleaner air and a greener borough."
Ealing Council have committed to making their hangars the cheapest to book a space in anywhere in London to further encourage residents to choose active travel instead of driving.
Councillor Deirdre Costigan, the council's deputy leader and cabinet member for climate change, said: "We are determined to support Ealing residents and visitors to the borough, to cycle more. Providing safe and accessible storage spaces for residents bikes is part of that.
"Thank you to the 350 local people who engaged in the consultation last year and had their say on where they wanted storage for their bikes. We promised we will be taking decisions together with residents, and so the 25 new bike hangars are all in locations suggested by the community.
"Bike hangars are a great solution to keeping your bike safe and now it will cost you only 70p per month, reduced from £6, making Ealing bike hangars the cheapest in London."
