Ealing Council bring back tree festival for a second year
Ealing Council have announced the return of the Ealing Tree Festival for a second year later in June to help inspire the community to plant more trees.
Taking place on Saturday 17th June between 11am and 4pm in Southall Park, the festival will be back for a second year with many activities on offer, such as: tree walks, storytelling, art, wildlife discovery, live music, a crafts workshop, and much more.
The festival will be in partnership with environmental charity Trees for Cities to help encourage residents of Ealing to get more involved with the environment and plant more trees.
Councillor Deirdre Costigan, cabinet member for climate action said: "Trees play such an important role in our plans to re-grow and re-wild Ealing, making it a great place for families, whilst also improving biodiversity and the quality of the air we breathe.
"We have been working with Trees for Cities as part of our pledge to plant 50,000 trees all over Ealing, as we take concrete steps to tackle the climate emergency and to purify our air.
"Ealing Tree Festival returns this year with a wonderful educational programme for people of all ages. Save the date and pop down to Southall Park on 17 June to join in the fun."
In addition to the festival, schools in the borough will have the chance to take part in two days of workshops on Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th June, in which children between seven and 14 will get involved with tree-themed education and practical activities.
Trees for Cities are the only charity in the UK which work at a national level to plant trees in cities, helping to create lasting change in neighbourhoods across the country.
Since 1993, they have helped to plant 1,551,867 trees in the UK, as well as engaging with 140,000 volunteers.
