Ealing Council has been ranked among the top 12 planning authorities in England, earning a platinum status for its performance.

According to a recent report by Planning magazine, the London Borough of Ealing has the best-decision making when it comes to planning, placing as the highest-performing London local authority.

Councillor Shital Manro, Ealing Council's cabinet member for good growth and new homes said: "This platinum rating reflects our success in delivering timely decisions that support sustainable growth throughout our borough.

"We are committed to ensuring that the right developments happen here, in the right places, at the right times, and our planning service is at the heart of making that ambition a reality."

The rankings, which evaluated all 337 English councils, were determined based on two key criteria: the speed at which planning applications are processed and the quality of the decisions made.

Councils were assessed on how many applications they decided within legal time limits over a two-year period and how often their decisions were upheld when challenged on appeal.

Ealing Council's platinum rating indicates it performed on average between 33-35% above the national quality threshold.

Ealing council has been approached for exact numbers of processed applications and how many decisions were upheld when challenged.

In addition to the 12 councils that earned platinum status, Planning magazine recognised 40 other councils that achieved gold or silver ratings for their strong decision-making performance.
