Ealing Council have brought in climate grants of up to £10,000 for community groups to help them cut energy usage and waste.

As part of Ealing Council's net zero target by 2030, they are asking community groups to apply for grants to help make their premises more energy efficient and to reduce carbon emissions.

Applicants have to be from not-for-profit organisations and demonstrate that their work is in the public benefit; places offering warm spaces will be prioritised in the first round of funding.

Councillor Deirdre Costigan, cabinet member for climate action, said: "Tackling the current climate crisis is a top priority for the council, and we are determined to make sure local organisations can play their part.

"These grants give communities the chance to take action and look at how they can do things differently to reduce their energy use, move to cheaper active travel options or cut waste.

"If you've got plans to insulate your working space, install solar panels or cycle parking, introduce a re-use and repair scheme or have plans for tackling and reducing food waste then we want to hear from you.

"We've put aside money to support this work to help local groups do their bit. We're also facing a cost-of-living crisis so this money could help to make financial savings for local organisations, while helping us to tackle the climate emergency too."

You can apply for these grants if your organisation is a: registered charity, community and voluntary group, co-operative, faith and equalities group, community interest company, social enterprise, tenant management organisation, or community benefit society

Any organisations interested in applying for these grants can attend a question and answers session on Zoom on Monday 6th February.

The deadline for applications is at 5pm on 7th March 2023 and more information can be found here.
