Ealing Council will be giving away five composts bins to residents across the borough in a new competition.
Compost is a natural fertiliser full of nutrients to feed your garden and it is also an environmentally friendly way to recycle your food waste and cuttings from your garden.
Once laid down on soil, it can also help to retain moisture for your plants in dry weather during the summer months.
To be in with a chance of winning, Ealing Council wants residents to correctly answer this question.
What percentage of the average UK household's waste can typically be composted?
Participants must send their correct answers in by email to [email protected] using the subject line 'Compost bins' by 11:59pm on Wednesday, 17 April 2024.
The council say to ensure residents are considered in the draw that they include their postal address in their entries.
The five winners will be picked out at random from among the correct entries, after the deadline has closed. Only the winners will be contacted.
Ealing Council says that no financial remuneration will be offered as an alternative.
If the winner does not respond within two weeks, or a similar term deemed reasonable/appropriate to the competition prize, a new winner might be drawn at random instead and awarded the prize.
Ealing Council says: "You can save money and make your own compost by using a compost bin.
"The council continues to offer compost bins to local people at a special discounted value. The bin is delivered to your home and comes with a handy user guide."
