Ealing coronavirus cases decline for first time in months
EALING has seen a decrease in new coronavirus cases for the first time in months.
Specifically, there was a decrease of over 19% of new cases in the latest COVID-19 figures that were released.
In the week of January 11 to 17, Ealing saw 2,937 new positive cases, compared to 3,666 the week before.
That figure represents a decrease of 19.9%, with 729 fewer new cases.
That means there was also a decrease in the number of new cases per 100,000 residents, with 859.3, compared to 1,072.5 the week before.
Although we've seen the infection numbers go down, Ealing Council leader, Julian Bell, says the numbers are still 'worryingly high'.
They still remain higher than the average across both London and England.
London as a whole had 58,604 new cases during the week of January 11 to 17, which represents 653.9 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
England saw 265,291 new cases during the same week, correlating to 471.3 cases per 100,000 people.
