TWO killings are being investigated in Ealing this evening following the death of a woman yesterday afternoon (Monday, 15 August) and the fatal stabbing of an elderly man, beleived to be in his eighties and in a wheelchair, in Greenford this afternoon.

Met Police officers fficers were called at 4.06pm today to Cayton Road where paramedics were battling to save the life of the man but he was declared dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for Met Police said: "A crime scene is in place and urgent inquiries to establish what happened are ongoing."

Yesterday's death happened at 3.37pm when police were called to Boddington Gardens, W3 following reports of a disturbance.

Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance.

A 58-year-old woman was found with stab wounds. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her next of kin has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

A 21-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder. She was taken to hospital with a non-life threatening injury before being transferred to police custody where she remains.

The arrested woman and the deceased were known to each other.

A 21-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. He was taken to a west London police station and has since been released with no further action to be taken against him.

Detective Chief Inspector Jim Shirley, from the Met's Specialist Crime Command, said: "Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the woman who has lost her life in this incident. They will continue to receive our full support.

"While an early arrest in this investigation is a positive development, we are still keen to build a picture of what happened.

"I would appeal to anyone who lives nearby or who was in the area at the time of the incident to come forward if they saw or heard anything unusual.

"No piece of information is insignificant."
