A MAN has been banned from driving for an extra year after the police caught him driving in Southall while disqualified and without insurance.

Karanbeer Singh, 33, of Hounslow, was sentenced at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on April 6, to a further 12 months' disqualification from driving, 80 hours unpaid work and £200 in legal costs.

On February 1, officers were on patrol in Cranleigh Gardens in Southall, when they had cause to stop a vehicle.

Checks revealed that the driver in question (Singh) was disqualified from driving and did not hold any insurance.

He was arrested and interviewed, where he fully admitted the offence before being charged with driving while disqualified and without insurance.

PC Neil Wilkinson, Dedicated Ward officer for Dormer Wells ward said: "I am pleased that Mr Singh has been convicted for these offences.

"His ban has been extended by a further 12 months and I hope this will allow him time to reflect on the potential danger disqualified and uninsured drivers pose to other road users."
