Councillor Gary Malcolm has successfully completed the challenge of walking at least 10,000 steps every day in October to total more than half a million steps in the month.

He began the challenge to raise money for Shelter who especially now, when many people are finding it hard to get the money for rent, provide much sought out advice and support for people in need.

Cllr Malcolm walked more than 500,000 steps in October smashing the target he set of 310,000.

He said: "It is wonderful to complete the challenge successfully and raise money for Shelter who provide a great help to many in need. It was very motivating but always tricky when the weather was rainy."
