MATT Hancock has just announced that Ealing will remain in Tier 4.

This comes as the Health Secretary announced a number of new areas would be going into Tier 4, but London will not move into the rumoured Tier 5.

The following rules will remain in place at least for the next two weeks until the next review on January 13:

  • Hospitality and non-essential retail will remain shut.
  • A stay-at-home order is issued except for specific reasons, such as food shopping and medical reasons.
  • The only household mixing of any kind is with one other person outside.
  • Support bubbles with a single household will remain in place.
  • Secondary schools will return on January 18, apart from exam years that will return on January 11.
  • Primary schools will not re-open until at least January 18, except for vulnerable children and those of key workers that will return as normal next week.

This announcement followed the positive news that the Oxford vaccine has been approved to use and will be ready from Monday.
