Bike thief from Hounslow sentenced to jail and ordered to pay fine

A man arrested by Hounslow Met Police officers for stealing two bicycles has been sentenced by a court to serve time and pay a fine.

After viewing CCTV footage, local officers identified the male as being John Deegan, who was later arrested on Sunday, 13 October for stealing two bikes in June and August.

Deegan was remanded to Uxbridge Magistrates Court where he was convicted of two theft of pedal cycles earlier this week on Monday, 14 October.

As punishment, the court sentenced him to 24 weeks in jail and ordered him to pay £1,844 in compensation to the victims.
