Amazon UK has begun an investigation after one of its lorry drivers crashed into bollards in Acton, west London yesterday (10 October).

Just before lunch time, one local says they saw the Amazon HGV truck drive into two separate bollards on Osborne Road, Acton with "complete disregard" for pedestrians.

A clip circulating online shows the lorry turning into Bollo Lane from the narrow Osborne road and then appearing to drive away from the scene.

Osborne Road resident, Ben Mason, was alerted to the situation after the hearing the lorry crash into the first set of bollards on the junction of Whelan Road and Osborne Road.

"I started filming to try and get a hold of its number plates so I could report it" Ben told Ealing Nub News. "And as that was happening, with no regard it took out the other ones (the bollards on Osborne Road and Bollo Lane junction) as well."

What surprised Ben most was the "complete disregard" from the Amazon employee who was driving before running over the second set of bollards.

Ben added: "The sound of it drew my attention but the complete disregard as there was plenty of room to manoeuvre that second time.

"The scariest thing is it (Bollo Lane) is quite a busy road for pedestrians."

Fortunately, there are no reports of injuries and only damage to the two pavements.

Shortly after the incident, Ben contacted Ealing Council's highways team, who within a couple of hours, made the damaged areas safe and today (11 October) the bollards can be seen with temporary repairs.

An Ealing Council spokesperson said: "This issue was reported to our highways team yesterday morning.

"Our inspector visited the site just after midday and the two affected areas have been made safe as a temporary measure, with permanent repairs to follow on.

"We will be contacting Amazon in due course to recover all costs incurred in repairing the damage."

An Amazon UK spokesperson told Ealing Nub News: "We're investigating with our carrier partner and we've contacted the local authority to make this right."

Amazon UK carrier partners include companies such as Hermes, DPD, and the Royal Mail.
