A Save Ealing Careline meeting will be held at Walnut Court in Ealing next Wednesday.
All residents and Careline service users are invited to attend the public meeting, organised by Ealing Reclaim Social Care Action Group, Campaign for Action in Sheltered Housing and Acorn Community Union.
Ealing councillors are expected to attend to answer questions.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday 24 April from 11am to 12.30 at Walnut Court, 14a Rowan Close, Ealing, W5 4YN.
Concerns about plans to scrap Ealing Careline were raised at yesterday's Ealing Council meeting.
The Careline, described as a vital safety measure for elderly and vulnerable residents in Ealing, has been withdrawn by the council.
Roy Willis, Chair of Ealing Reclaim Social Care Action Group, gave notice prior to the council meeting that he wished to ask the following question of Councillor Josh Blacker, Cabinet Member for Health Lives:
"What reassurance can the council give that all 3000 subscribers to Ealing Careline (now closed) have an equivalent emergency Telecare service in place?"
Alex Cowan, Chair of Direct Payment User Group, also gave notice she wished to ask Councillor Blacker:
"When will a responder service be set up and running for Ealing residents because at present there is no responder service using Harrow Careline or any other Careline provider?"
She would like to know what monitoring there will be of a new service if it is put in place, what will it look like and when it will be set up.
There were further questions from councillors about why the Ealing Careline Service is being dropped and how the council is supporting residents to transition from Ealing Careline to Harrow Careline.
