18-year-old charged with murder in Uxbridge

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man in Uxbridge.

Met Police detectives charged 18-year-old Jimmy McDonagh of Dawley Avenue Hayes with the murder of John Cavanagh on Friday, 8 March.

McDonagh was arrested on Tuesday, 5 March, in the Ilkestone area of Derbyshire.

He appeared in custody at Uxbridge Magistrates' on Saturday 9 March where he was remanded until his next hearing at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 12 March.

An investigation was launched after police were called shortly before 8:10pm on Monday, 4 March to reports of an assault on Dawley Avenue.

Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and a 44-year-old man was taken to hospital where he sadly later died.

A special post-mortem examination confirmed cause of death was the result of a head injury.

The Met say his family continue to be supported by specialist officers.
