Questors put on Ealing Panto and an enchanted performance this Christmas

By Hannah Davenport 11th Dec 2021

Ealing's independent theatre, The Questors has a double bill of performances coming up to get you in the seasonal mood.

From next Thursday (16 December) their Annual Christmas Pantomime is back to the stage for a good boo, hiss and cheer.

After two years away The Dame is dusting off her best frock for a celebration like never before with a performance of the classic, Snow White.

"A hit – a very palpable hit." Mark Aspen's review of The Questors 2019 Pantomime.

Running alongside the Pantomime will be a show for the older audience, promising a magical night of escapism...

From multi-award-winning playwright Sir J.M Barrie, writer of Peter Pan and The Admirable Crichton, the darkly comic, enchanting Dear Brutus bursts onto The Questors stage for their Christmas season.

First staged in 1918, the story starts on a midsummer's eve in 1917, when eight strangers find themselves guests of an enigmatic gentleman who has gathered them all on this very night because of one common bond.

So when an enchanted woodland, holding promises of a second chance at life, appears to them all, the guests feel compelled to enter.

But how will they react when their lives are changed forever...

Director, Russell Fleet said: "If you're looking for a bit of pure escapism in the time of Covid then this is the play for you.

"J.M. Barrie wrote it during the First World War and there is no mention of the war in this play, so it is clearly meant to be an escape from the troubles of the world.

"And right now, I think that's something we could all use."

Dr Brutus will be performed at The Questor's Studio for eight performances from 17-28 December 2021, daily at 7.45pm (excluding Sun and Mon), and Sunday at 2.30pm.

Running time, 1hour 50minutes, including interval.

The Panto will run at The Questors Judi Dench Playhouse Theatre for 16 performances only, running time two hours.

Tickets are £20 for adults, £10 for children (up to 16) and booking is recommended in advance.
