ON Monday evening, May 10, Julian Bell was ousted by his Labour councillors and replaced as leader by Peter Mason.

Cllr Mason is due to be formally confirmed as the new leader of Ealing Council next Tuesday, May 18.

Since being named leader of Ealing Labour however, the already controversial councillor – who was forced to apologise for accepting an all-expenses paid trip to France by developer Berkeley Group – is now involved in another scandal, as a number of old offensive Facebook posts and comments have been revealed.

In two posts and one comment from 2010, cllr Mason is seen joking about pushing Tory and Lib Dem voters off a cliff, begging people to kill foxes, and despairing at the fact that he has to attend a meeting in Southall (which is the ward he represents) where the participants will be speaking Punjabi.

In one of these comments Mason wrote: "You are standing on the edge of a cliff with a Tory and a Lib Dem. Who do you push off first?"

On a post from March 24 2010, he wrote: "Will somebody please shoot these fucking foxes in Acton!"

On another post on February 12 2010, he wrote: "Another meeting in Southall – another round of sitting around not understanding all this Punjabi."

Cllr Mason was approached for comment over 24 hours ago but has failed to respond.
