EALING has seen an increase of over 43% of new cases in the latest COVID-19 figures that were released earlier today.

This comes after Ealing, along with the rest of London moved into Tier 4 yesterday, after a new variant of the virus was discovered.

In the week of December 7 to 13, Ealing saw 858 new positive cases, compared to 597 the week before.

That figure represents an increase of 43.7%, with 261 more new cases.

That means there was also an increase in the number of new cases per 100,000 residents, with 251.0, compared to 174.7 the week before.

Those figures continue to be lower than the average across London, but higher than the average across England.

London as a whole had 32,146 new cases during the week of December 7 to 13, which represents 358.7 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

England saw 123,173 new cases during the same week, correlating to 218.8 cases per 100,000 people.
