St Barnabas Church Hall, Pitshanger Lane, Ealing W5 1QG
Culture
10th Aug 2022 - 19th Aug 2022
UNTIL Friday 19th August
Ever since the arrival of the Romans 2,000 years ago, London has been at the heart of British and often world affairs. Its great men and women such as Shakespeare, Elizabeth I, Hogarth and Dickens have shaped the London around us.
We will explore the major events in the capital's history - the Norman invasion of 1066, the role of the River Thames, the Great Fire of 1666, the coming of the railway, Docklands - in order to find out what has made this vibrant, stimulating and often infuriating city 'tick'. Who can resist a London delighted in by such characters as Samuel Pepys and Sir John Betjeman?
Andrew Davies, our lecturer, is an author and a frequent contributor to radio and TV, lectures worldwide & organises walks to complement his lectures.
This Special Interest Morning starts runs from 10:30am- 13:15pm on Wednesday 10th August at St Barnabas Church Hall, Pitshanger Lane, Ealing W5 1QG.
This is a ticketed event and visitors are welcome to attend at a cost of £22 (which includes two 1-hour lectures, tea/coffee and biscuits). For tickets and more information please contact: [email protected]
