ENGLAND'S first double-decker hydrogen buses have been unveiled today in Ealing.

20 of the vehicles will serve the number 7 bus route, which starts in East Acton and runs through to Oxford Circus.

The buses produce no pollution from their exhausts and can be charged once a day within five minutes, with the only direct by-product being water.

Transport for London (TfL) already has more than 500 electric buses in its fleet as it aims to be zero-emission by 2030.

Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: "These hydrogen-powered double-decker buses don't produce exhaust fumes.

"Not only will they help clean up London's air, but they'll give Londoners quieter, smoother journeys.

"Great to see them in action here in Ealing."
